Double Plaidinum Review

For some reason this album received criticism from many reviewers, but now that I think about it, none of them actually gave a reason for this CD's poor rating. Well, you've seen their reviews, here's mine.

Double Plaidinum is one of Lagwagon's best releases to date. The songs have stronger feelings and more sincere lyrics than it's predecessor in Hoss. Songs like Twenty-Seven are fine examples of the point I make. It starts off with a quiet bass line and lyrics, then bursts into an excellently crafted piece of punk rock melody. Songs like this are scattered around this stunning album.

To All My Friends has received much credit from numerous Lagwagon fans and reviewers, and rightly so. It is also the first Lagwagon song in which I've known them to experiment with different tunings - they tune their instruments down 1 step.

Lagwagon also experiment a little in their fine song Today, going for a ska sound where the result is really pretty good. One Thing to Live is another standout effort on this recording, combining a cute little acoustic intro with some classic Lagwagon style punk.

Double Plaidinum was the first Lagwagon release I bought, and will remain in the top few records I own for quite a while.
